The court granted a three-day remand to Imtiaz Selim (42), the media coordinator of the banned organization Hizb ut Tahrir. Judge Shahin Reza of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Friday remanded the case against Shahbag police station under anti-terrorism law.

Earlier in the morning, he was arrested by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police from Bashundhara residential area of the capital. In the interest of a fair investigation in the court, the investigation officer of the case, CTTC's cyber intel team inspector said. Khairul Islam applied to remand him for seven days.
After Selim's arrest, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Media and Public Relations Department of DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that there are several cases against Imtiaz Selim in the capital's police station. Among them, there is a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Shahbagh police station. He is the accused accused in two more cases of Pallabi and Khilgaon police stations. Apart from this, three more cases are pending against him. After the legal process, he was handed over to the court.
