In the anti-discrimination student movement on July 17, Professor Farid Ahmad, who assisted the police attack on the students of Jahangirnagar University (JABI), was arrested at Jagannath University (JABI).

The students arrested him from the room of Deputy Registrar Shahana Akhter under Rafiq Bhawan of Jobi Campus around 11:30 am on Thursday. As there was a murder case against him, the students of Jobi later handed him over to Kotwali police station.

Tawhid Islam, a student of philosophy department of Jagannath University, said, "We can actually recognize him in our university this morning." There is a case against him in Ashulia police station for helping the BLA and the police to attack the students. We hand him over to the police without doing anything.

In this regard, Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Enamul Haque said, the students arrested him in the campus of Jagannath University and handed him over to us. A case has been registered against him in the Ashulia police station in connection with the attack on students in Jahangirnagar University. He is now in our custody.
