On the way back after a program in Gazipur, two groups of BNP leaders and activists fired and clashed. The attack took place in front of the city's Kalimandir after the donation distribution ceremony at 107 pujamandaps on behalf of BNP acting chairman Tarek Rahman on Monday afternoon.

Shafiqul Islam Titu (45), former joint general secretary of Mahanagar Jubo Dal and Sabed Talukdar (52), adviser of Ward No. 27 BNP, who were shot in this incident, were taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital and prominent Jubo Dal leader Aliullah Tuhin, who was injured in Chapati Kope, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

It is known that on the occasion of upcoming Durga Puja, the event was organized by General Secretary of Gazipur BNP M Manjurul Karim Roni. In the absence of Roni, Mehdi Hasan Ellis, president of Metropolitan Sadar Police Station, general secretary Saiful Islam Tutul, BNP leader GS Suruj Ahmed, Hannan Mia Hannu, Dr. Shahiduzzaman, Ahmad Ali Roozdi, Monirul Islam Monir, Mofazzal Hossain Chairman, Gazi Salauddin and Member Secretary Bappi Dey of Mahanagar Kalimandir.

After the ceremony ended around 1:30 pm, the guests left. Later, an altercation broke out between the activists participating in the event at the railway crossing area outside the Kalimandir due to past enmity. At one stage, the activists of a section of BNP opened fire and attacked with chapati. The three were injured.

A source of BNP in the city said that a month ago, a youth was hacked to death in North Chayabithi area of ​​the city due to dominance. This attack may have happened because of that.

GS Suruj Ahmed, who was present at the event, said that it is not known what happened after we left after the event.

In this regard, Gazipur Metropolitan BNP President Shaukat Hossain Sarkar said, Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Manjurul Kabir Roni had a program. Rony is currently out of the country. I heard that the attack happened because of a previous dispute between two factions of his supporters there.

Sheikh Farid, resident doctor of Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, said that one injured person was brought to the hospital in the afternoon. There are sharp cuts on his back.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Nazir Ahmed Khan said that he heard that the attack and firing happened due to previous enmity. The arrest of those involved in the incident has been ordered.
