The government has constituted a special task force at the district level to monitor and review the market situation and supply chain of essential commodities. Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce on Monday. This information is known in a notification signed by Mehdi Hasan.

Additional Deputy Commissioner will be the convener of this special task force. And Assistant Director of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate will serve as member secretary.

The members will be Additional Superintendent of Police, District Food Controller or appropriate representative, District Livestock Officer or appropriate representative, District Fisheries Officer or appropriate representative, Agricultural Marketing Officer or Senior Agricultural Marketing Officer, CAB representative and 2 student representatives.

According to the notification, this task force will regularly conduct on-the-spot inspections of various markets, large warehouses/ godowns/ cold storage and other places of supply chain and monitor the fact that prices of essential commodities are kept at a reasonable level.

The task force will also ensure that price differentials between the production, wholesale and consumer levels are kept to a minimum and hold consultation meetings with all concerned stakeholders.

After daily monitoring, the task force will send a report to the Commodity Price Review and Forecasting Cell of the Ministry of Commerce and the Central Control Room of the National Directorate of Consumer Protection. The National Consumer Protection Directorate will compile and review the reports received from various districts and submit a report to the Ministry of Commerce by 7 pm every day.

The notification also said that the task force can co-opt members if necessary.
