International Desk: A mosque named Sarihasila in Antalya region of Turkey has been opened again. The renovation of this 600-year-old mosque was started in 2019. However, due to various reasons including the corona epidemic, the renovation work has been delayed. Finally, after all the work, the mosque has been reopened.

Sarihasila Mosque

Mehmet Orhan Ken, Chairman of Sarihasila Village Culture and Tourism Association said, 'Renovation work started in 2019. It was supposed to take 18 months to complete. But due to the Corona pandemic, the reformation period was extended by three years. Now this has been completed and the mosque has been reopened for prayers.'

The mirhab, pulpit and dome of the mosque, which were built 600 years ago, are still there. Experts have painstakingly renovated the wooden roof of the mosque, the weakened walls, the floor of the mosque and the resting place. Their aim was to hand over this hundred-year-old mosque to the next generation. As if they too can see this amazing architecture.

A special feature of this old mosque is that its mirhab, floors, roof, doors, windows, women's place, pulpit are all made of wood. It is believed to have been built during the Anatolian Seljuk period (1307-1308 AD).
