International Desk: King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia has recovered from pneumonia on Wednesday. This information is known from the statement of the royal court published in the official media.

Three days before the announcement, it was reported that 88-year-old King Salman has a lung infection and will undergo some tests as advised by doctors.

It was first reported last May that King Salman was suffering from a lung problem, accompanied by symptoms such as fever and joint pain.

At that time he was treated with antibiotics. After a few days he recovered.

King Salman has been on the throne of Saudi Arabia since 2015. In 2017, his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, succeeded to the throne and is currently responsible for the day-to-day governance of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia, the world's largest crude oil exporter, has long been trying to quell speculation about King Salman's health.

Meanwhile, Yuvraj Salman assured everyone about his father's health during the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, state media reported. King Salman chaired the last cabinet meeting on September 24.

During the reign of King Salman, Saudi Arabia underwent several important social and economic reforms, most of which were carried out under his son.
