He was 86 years old.

Reports say that Ratan Tata died due to old age.

He fell ill suddenly at midnight on October 6. He was immediately taken to that hospital in Mumbai. After treatment he recovered a lot.

Ratan Tata himself said that he is healthy. He said there is no reason to worry about him. But on Wednesday, his physical condition started to deteriorate again. It was then known that the situation was critical. The news of the death of this business icon came in the night.


Industrialists from Harsh Goenka to Gautam Adani, Anand Mahindra have already expressed grief over the news of Ratan Tata's death on micro blogging site X. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed their condolences.

Incidentally, Ratan's grandfather founded the Tata group more than a hundred years ago. Ratan became the chairman of that group in 1991. At that time Tata Group's business was mainly spread in automobile and steel industries. The veteran industrialist started Tata Teleservices in 1996. In 2002, he started the IT company 'Tata Consultancy Services'. In 2012, Ratan moved away from the direct responsibility of various organizations of the Tata group and sat in an honorary position.
