However, nothing has been confirmed from Dhoni or the franchise so far. However, a source confirmed to Indian media outlet Michael that Dhoni will play in the IPL. The former captain of India will play for Chennai in the upcoming tournament as well.

A source told Indian media outlet Michael that Dhoni is going to play in 2025 IPL as well. The wicketkeeper-batsman, who turned 43 in July, will play for Chennai next season. CSK is going to keep him as an 'uncapped player' before the upcoming mega auction of IPL.

BCCI is preparing for mega auction ahead of 2025 IPL. No date or venue has been set yet. However, the buyout event may be held in the last week of November. Teams are now busy with player retention in the wake of the auction. As per the latest approved rules, teams will be able to retain up to six players from the 2024 squad. Five of them are capped, one is uncapped.

Why women are more attracted to married men

Recently the BCCI made a rule that players who have not represented the Indian national team for five years will fall into the 'uncapped' category. Dhoni last played for India in 2019. This means, Chennai Super Kings can keep Dhoni 'uncapped' for 2025. But in that case Dhoni's remuneration amount will decrease.
