Jumbangla Desk: A young man named Mizanur Rahman Mizu (30) was beaten to death by an angry mob while running away with two people including the imam of the mosque in Chapainawabganj.

The incident took place at Shimultala in Baliadanga Union of Sadar Upazila at around 8 am on Thursday (October 10).

Mizu is the son of Tariqul Islam of Shimultala Baluchar village in Baliadanga union of Sadar upazila.

On the other hand, the injured are Maulana Hossain, son of deceased Abdur Razzak, Imam of Baluchar Mosque and Harunur Rashid, son of deceased Moshiur Rahman. They have been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RAMEC).

Locals said, Maulana Hossain, Imam of Baluchar Mosque, was vocal against drugs for a long time. Mizu got angry and stabbed Imam and Harunur Rashid who was with him.

At one stage, the angry crowd mobbed Mizu and he died on the spot. Later, the police rescued him from the spot and took him to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Chapainawabganj Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Zakaria said, first, Mizanur Rahman Mizu severely injured Maulana Haihoy by hitting him with a sharp weapon. At that time, when Harunur Rashid of the same area stopped him, Mizu also cut him and injured him.
