A video was uploaded on Facebook by an ID named BP Binoy Roy showing the vandalism of the Durga Mandir of Dakshin Joypara Sarvajanin Daspara Ekta Yuva Sangh under Doha Police Station. which spreads quickly and causes adverse reactions.
As soon as the video came to the attention of the Dhaka district cyber team, under the instructions of Superintendent of Police Ahmed Mueed, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of Doha Circle. During the visit, they came to know that no vandalism or unpleasant incident happened in that temple this year. Durga Puja is being held there in a very festive atmosphere.
It is known that the video uploader spread confusion by uploading a video of an incident that is about one and a half years old (dated 22/06/2023).
In the meantime, the president of the temple committee filed a case at the Doha police station as a plaintiff. (Case No-17, Date-22/06/2023, Section-448/295/427 Penal Code). The police immediately arrested the accused accused in the incident and sent him to the learned court.
Later, after the investigation of the case, he filed a charge sheet against the accused in the court.
The leaders of temple committee and upazila puja committee protested the creation of rumors with old videos despite the fact that autumn Durga Puja was celebrated in a lively environment.
Dakshin Jayapara Sarvajanin Daspara Ekta Yuva Sangh Durga Mandir Committee President Nitai Chandra said, “Currently we are performing puja safely and without interruption. The environment here is very good. But those who want to release old videos and spread rumours, basically want to destroy communal harmony. We strongly protest against this.”
Doha Upazila Puja Committee President Amitabh Pal Apu said, “Durga Puja is being organized in a joyful atmosphere in every pujamandap in Doha like every year. Communal harmony has always been good in Doha, and still is. This year the police and administration are also very active. Besides, the army is also patrolling. In such a situation, we condemn and strongly protest this attempt to destroy communal harmony by creating rumors with old videos.”
He called upon all Sanatanis to beware of such rumours.
Doha Circle Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police. Ashraful Alam said, "In Doha and Nawabganj, not only Hindus and Muslims, people of different religions live together. The communal harmony here is very good and exemplary for the whole country. Like every year, this year also the citizens of the Hindu community are celebrating Durga Puja in a very joyful atmosphere. But a mischievous group is deliberately spreading old videos to create rumours.”
He further said, “Legal action will be taken after identifying the said postman. Please don't listen to such rumours. Any information and facts should not be posted or shared without verification. Everyone should be more aware of this.”
It should be noted that this year there are CCTVs in every worship hall in Doha and Nawabganj, there are members of Ansar forces, there are volunteers. Bangladesh Police is working day and night for Puja security. In addition to 10 mobile teams in Doha and 14 in Nawabganj, plainclothes police intelligence teams are also working.
