Jumbangla Desk: The police have arrested five people on the charge of killing Tanzil Jahan Islam Tamim, an officer of the broadcasting department of Deep Television in the Rampura Mahanagar project area of the capital. Tamim
According to the family, deceased Tamim's father, as the owner of the land, entered into an agreement with Pleasant Properties to construct a building, under which they were supposed to be given five flats. However, the developer company handed over only two flats and sold one flat to the father-in-law of Narcotics Control Directorate Deputy Director Mohammad Mamun. There was a dispute between the two parties regarding the distribution of these flats for a long time.
In a press conference organized at DMP media center on Friday (October 11), Ruhul Kabir Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tejgaon Division, said, "Initially the involvement of BNP leader Ravi has been found and the Narcotics Control Officer is also being contacted in this regard."
Police also said that apart from Mamun, employees of Pleasant Properties, Abdul Latif, Qurban Ali, Mahin, Mozammel Haque Kabir and Bandhan have been arrested. Serious charges have been brought against them for assaulting the deceased.
DC Ruhul Kabir confirmed that Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatirjheel police station has been removed from his duty on the charge of negligence in this incident. He further said, “We are looking at the crime, not the criminal. Action will be taken against those who are found responsible, not political identity.”
