Killed due to conflict over house construction and flat sharing, arrest 5

Jumbangla Desk: The Hatirjheel police station of DMP's Tejgaon division has arrested five people in connection with the murder due to a dispute over the construction of houses and sharing of flats in Rampura Mahanagar project of the capital.

The arrested are Md. Abdul Latif (46), Md. Qurban Ali (24), Mahin (18), Mozammel Haque Kabir (52) and Bandhan (20).

Four persons were arrested from the spot immediately after the incident yesterday (October 10) morning and Bandhan was arrested from Malibagh area on Friday morning.

On Thursday morning at around 10:30 a.m., between the land owner and developer company and several other owners of the house and flat sharing on the 8th floor corridor of an under-construction building of House No. 79, 80, 81 Road-04, Bcl-D of Rampura Mahanagar project in the capital. A scuffle ensues.


It is known that the owner of the land entered into an agreement with a developer company named Pleasant Properties (Pvt) Ltd. There was a long-standing dispute between the land owners and the developer company regarding the allotment of flats to the land owners as per the said agreement. A person named Tanzil Jahan Islam Tamim (33) was seriously injured in the vandalism and scuffle between the people of the developer company, the land owner and other owners of the building on Thursday. Later, when the injured Tamim was taken to Monowara Hospital in the capital, the doctors on duty declared him dead.

After the incident Hatirjheel police station visited the spot. A case of murder has been registered against 16 named accused and 11/12 unknown persons of Hatirjheel police station regarding the said incident. Hatirjheel police station has already arrested five people from Ejaharnam.

The arrested persons have been sent to the learned court with remand application for detailed investigation of the incident. Besides, the operation to arrest the other accused is continuing.
