It said that Myanmar authorities detained 6 fishing trawlers with 58 fishermen while fishing near St. Martin Union. Later, after communication between the Bangladesh Coast Guard and the Myanmar Navy, the fishermen along with the boat were released in two rounds yesterday.

The Government of Bangladesh has called upon Myanmar to take immediate steps to prevent the recurrence of such undesirable activities. Myanmar has been reminded to fully respect the territorial integrity of Bangladesh and refrain from any further provocation.

Apart from this, Bangladesh has expressed deep concern in the diplomatic note sent to the Myanmar Embassy in Dhaka over the tragic incident.
