Dharma Desk: The prerequisite for becoming a Muttaki is to keep the fear of Allah awake in the heart. Generally, people like to be happy. No one likes sadness or crying. But Allah must be remembered in all situations. Because everyone will have to give an account before Allah one day. No one can get past this. And if you fail to account, there will be dire consequences. That's why Allah said to smile less and cry more.
In this context, Allah says in the Qur'an, So let them laugh less and weep more, in return for what they have earned. (Surah At-Tawbah, Verse: 82)
On the authority of Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA), Rasulullah (SAW) said, It is impossible for a person who weeps in fear of Allah to go to Hell. For example, it is impossible for burnt milk to return to Olan. And the dust of Allah's way and the smoke of hell will never come together. (Tirmidhi, in Hadith: 1633)
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (R.A.) said, I heard Rasulullah (S.A.W.) saying, Hellfire will not touch two eyes. One. The eyes that cry for fear of God and two. The eyes that spend sleepless nights guarding the path of Allah. (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1639)
On the authority of Abu Umama (RA), the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, "There is nothing more beloved to Allah than two drops (of water) and two (wounds). One. Tears shed from fear of God and two. Drops of blood released in the way of Allah. (Tirmidhi: 1669)
The hadith also says about those who shed tears in fear of Allah, they will find shade under the throne of Allah on that day when there will be no other shade. One of the seven categories is, 'those who remember Allah in solitude and tears flow from their eyes.' (Bukhari, Hadith: 660; Muslim, Hadith: 711)
