They claim that the price of eggs will decrease along with the reduction in the price of ingredients. Despite the egg production in Jessore almost double the demand, the market is bullish. Even eggs are not being sold anywhere at the price set by the government.

According to information available from the Jessore District Livestock Office, there are a total of 123 layer chicken farms in the district. In these farms more than 50 crore eggs are produced annually. The district has an annual demand of a little over 31 crore eggs. Among these layer firms there are 10-12 large firms. Among these, the largest egg production is in Afil Layer Farm, Chand Agro and Spectra Hexa Poultry Farm.

According to the information of the Department of Livestock, 450,000 eggs are produced in Afil Layer Farm, 50-60 thousand in Chand Agro and 50 thousand in Spectra Hexa Poultry Farm. All the farms together produce 50 million eggs annually.

The demand of Jessore district is 31 crores per year, but some of the remaining eggs go out. Also, some eggs are used to produce babies. 15 to 17 lakh chicks are produced in Jessore every week. Some of the surplus eggs are used in broiler chicken production farms, the officials said. However, some of the surplus eggs go outside Jessore, and also come from outside.

Meanwhile, each egg is currently being sold at Tk 12 and a half to Tk 13 in Jessore market. Although the government has fixed the price of eggs at 11 taka 87 paisa.

On Friday, the young farmer who produced the eggs of Jhikargacha said. Shawon said, 'It is not possible to reduce the price of eggs until the price of other materials including feed is reduced. Instead of fussing over the price of eggs, focus should be on reducing the price of food. If the government is able to reduce the price of ingredients then the price of eggs will naturally come down. If not, no matter how much chilapalla is done, no work will be done. If the government is more strict, many may be forced to close the farm. This will increase the crisis.' Vendors and government and private officials also agreed with him.

To stabilize the egg market, the government allowed three rounds of egg imports. But very few eggs have been imported. Which did not affect the egg market.

District Livestock Officer Dr. Rashedul Haque said that several farms have been closed due to floods in many districts. Due to this, there is pressure on the eggs. At the same time, due to the increase in the price of fish and other vegetables in the market, the consumption of eggs has increased. As usage has increased due to which the price has also increased slightly. Still, the price of food and other materials should be reduced. If not, there is no possibility of price reduction.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of World Egg Day, a rally and discussion meeting was held on Friday under the initiative of the District Animal Husbandry Department. The chief guest was the district livestock officer Dr. Rashedul Haque.

Sadar upazila livestock officer Dr. Dr. Faruk Hossain spoke at the discussion meeting, former livestock officer of Chuadanga district.
