Missing while watching Durga Puja, body recovered from river after 9 hours

Zoom-Bangla Desk: Locals have recovered the bodies of two children from Mathabhanga river after 9 hours after they went missing in Chuadanga's Alamdanga while visiting Durga Puja. The incident took place at the Masjid Para of Atharokhad village in Garadi Union of the upazila around 9:30 pm on Friday.

The deceased are Saiful Islam's son Tahsib (6) and Humayan's son Huzaifa (7) of the same village. Both of them studied in a local madrasa.


Locals said that after Jumma prayers on Friday, Tahsib and Huzaifa went to see Durga Puja on the banks of Mathabhanga river in Atarokhada village. Since then both of them could not be found by family members. In search of them, poojamandap and mosques are miked. Later, around 9pm, a policeman on duty at the Pujamandap found Tahsib's Genji Mathabhanga on the banks of the river. Later, 10-12 local youths searched the river and recovered the bodies of two children.


Manik Mia, a UP member of that ward of Gharadi Union, confirmed the matter and said that it is believed that one child fell into the water and the other child took off his gingham to rescue him and drowned in the water.

 


Inspector (OC) of Alamdanga police station Sheikh Gani Mia said that the police have been sent in the case of the death of two children. The family of the two children is preparing a wrongful death case.
