Jumbangla Desk: A new record has been set in the price of hilsa in Chandpur. From October 13, mother-hilsa protection program is starting in Chandpur naval boundary. Catching, stocking and buying and selling of hilsa will be prohibited during this time. On this occasion, the price of hilsa at Chandpur Fish Ghat exceeded all previous records. On Thursday and Friday, hilsa increased by Tk 500-600 per kg. This is the first time in the history of Chandpur, traders and buyers said.

Even in full season, the supply of hilsa has decreased in Chandpur station fish ghat. A week ago, 400-500 hilsa were supplied daily to Machghat, but now it has reduced to less than 100. Due to which the price of hilsa increased by 500-600 taka per kg.

Hilsa is being sold at the price of 2400 to 2500 Tk. Which was 1800 to 2000 taka a week ago. Besides, the price of hilsa weighing more than 1kg is selling at Tk 2700-2800. Instead of Tk 500-600, small size hilsa is now being sold at Tk 1200-1300 per kg.

Before the ban, buyers are angry after hearing the skyrocketing price of hilsa. Traders say fishermen are returning to the shore with nets and boats before the ban. It can be said that there is no hilsa supply.

Hilsa buyer Arman Gazi said, I have not seen such price of hilsa in Chandpur before. I can't buy hilsa at such a price.
