The Chinese ambassador had a separate meeting with BNP and Jamaat leaders

Jumbangla Desk: Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen held a separate meeting with regional leaders of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in Chittagong. The meeting was held on Friday (October 11).

Local leaders of BNP led by Ghulam Akbar Khandkar, Advisor to BNP Chairperson, held a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador. On the other hand, the leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami under the leadership of Assistant Secretary General Muhammad Shahjahan held a meeting with the ambassador, according to a press release of the Chinese Embassy.

In the meeting, Ambassador Yao mentioned that the Communist Party of China (CPC) has had friendly relations with all major political parties in Bangladesh for a long time.

He expressed interest in strengthening relations with the interim government in Bangladesh on various issues. He expressed China's desire to increase the training of workers in particular and expand the scope of cooperation in various fields. Apart from this, the ambassador also said that China is keen to advance the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for the benefit of the people of both countries.


The leaders of BNP and Jamaat expressed their gratitude to the CPC, the Chinese government and the Chinese people for their long-standing support for the national development, economic and social progress and welfare of the people of Bangladesh.

They expressed their willingness to strengthen party-to-party exchanges and friendly cooperation with the Chinese Communist Party.

Both sides also emphasized the importance of 'people to people' exchanges between the two countries in addition to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Bangladesh diplomatic relations in 2025.
