International Desk: India has banned Hizb ut Tahrir as a 'terrorist organization'. On Thursday, the country's interior ministry said in a notification. It is said that Hizb ut Tahrir wants to establish a global Islamic state and caliphate including India through Jihad and terrorist activities.

The notification also said that Hizb ut Tahri is involved in the spread of extremism. They are engaged in inciting simple youths to join terrorist organizations like IS. Also they are raising funds for terrorist activities.


Later, Union Home Minister Amit Shah's office X (formerly Twitter) said in a post that following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism, the Home Ministry today declared Hizb ut Tahrir a terrorist organization.

Earlier, the United Kingdom declared Hizb ut Tahrir as a banned terrorist group on January 15. Also, the organization has been banned in some countries of the world including Bangladesh, Russia, Türkiye, Egypt.
