He said this while meeting a delegation led by Ichiguchi Tomohide, chief representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Bangladesh at the office room of the Secretariat's Posts and Telecommunications Department today.

Ichiguchi Tomohide said, Bangladesh is a country with great potential in the information technology sector. But as there are no good job opportunities in the IT sector in Bangladesh, we want to create new job opportunities in Bangladesh as well as train 1000 IT engineers to utilize this potential of Bangladesh.

Nahid Islam said that the main goal of the current government is to create employment. Because the movement was formed because of this employment. We welcome any JICA investment in job creation. If there is a specific proposal in this regard, it will be considered. The advisor also noted that the current interim government expects more investment from Japan and JICA.

Ichiguchi Tomohide said, we are interested in working with these two agendas of investment growth and public administration reform. He also expressed interest in infrastructure development. Ichiguchi Tomohide said that they want to cooperate with Bangladesh by using the experience of different countries of the world and that Bangladesh is the second highest investor of JICA.


The adviser said that the interim government is trying to encourage private sector investment by creating a business-friendly environment in the country. The government is working on the obstacles in this regard.

He said, the youth of Bangladesh are talented. Working with JICA will help in upskilling the youth. So Bangladesh is interested to work with JICA.

He also said that the government is also working on how to increase foreign direct investment in Bangladesh.

At this time, they also discussed various matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting, the secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications. Md. Mushfiqur Rahman, Information Technology Department Secretary Sheesh Haider Chowdhury, JICA Bangladesh Senior Representative Komori Takashi, Representative Kukkami Minami and JICA Expert Soji Akihiro were present.
