It is very difficult to get the information of various zamindarbari across Bangladesh. Abandonment is even more difficult. However, it is not difficult to determine what the condition of this house will be after a few days. Sahebbari has become Sabbari in the eyes of the people. not far away Bakhtarnagar in Nawabganj near Dhaka. This deserted zamindarbari quietly tells the history. It is a witness of the past. It is at least 150 years old.

Bakhtarnagar sub house

The establishment period of this zamindarbari of Bakhtarnagar village, the name of the founder is not known correctly. However, looking at the construction style of the house, it can be assumed that it is a house of the 19th and 20th century. The exact construction period of the mosque on the other side of the road is also not known.

I feel the urge to gather some information out of my own interest. What little has been found is that Mohammad Mahmud Ali wrote about this zamindarbari in his book 'Zamindarbari of East Bengal', Shahbuddin Shah founded this zamindarari around 1750. The area of the zamindarbari is mentioned as five bighas. After the death of Sultan Shahbuddin Shah, his son managed the zamindari. However, his son's name is not mentioned in the book.

Ghalib Rahman Khan, a banker by profession, has a passion for history. He also worked on the history of Nawabganj. What I have learned from Ghalib Rahman's research is that a woman named Faizunnesa is the founder of this zamindari. Later his adopted son Ali Jan Mia got the zamindari. His son Syed Ubaidullah was the first chairman of Shikaripara Union. Ubaydullah Sahib's son Shahabuddin (Khoka Mia) Sahib is the present owner of this property. That is, this estate is still with the original owners. Still don't know why it is abandoned and dilapidated.

I saw an inscription on the main door of the mosque. The image of the mosque inscription was deciphered by an expert named Tahmidal Jami. According to him, the builder of this mosque was a woman named Faizunnesa. That is, the data is similar. However, according to the text of the inscription Faizunnessa received the zamindari from his aunt Mr. Hasina. According to the inscription, the mosque was built in 1870. Then we can assume that the construction of this zamindarbari may be of the contemporary period.

Heritage travel requires a little bit of history. What to do if you want to see this zamindarbari near Dhaka! There are many ways to reach Nawabganj from Dhaka. I am telling you how I came. Since my home is in Mohammadpur, I went to Basila by rickshaw from Mohammadpur.

From there, press CNG to Bandura. Then reached Bakhtarnagar village by autorickshaw from Bandura. Bakhtarnagar village is not very popular or known as a tourist destination. So the auto rickshaw driver has to explain a bit, I will go to see the old house, broken house, zamindarbari of Bakhtarnagar village. Apart from this, you can reach Bandura by bus from Dhaka's Gulistan.
