During these 22 days, hilsa transportation, buying and selling, storage and exchange will be prohibited across the country. At the same time mother hilsa conservation campaign will be implemented. The district and upazila task force have already made all kinds of preparations to implement this program of the government.

According to the relevant sources, no fisherman can enter the river during the ban in the 100 km area from Shatanal of Meghna River to Char Alexander in Laxmipur .

During the ban, hilsa rushes from the sea to lay eggs in fresh water. During this time, awareness activities are continuing in the coastal fishing areas so that the fishermen cannot go down to the river. Banners have been hung at fish landing centers and shelters.

Catching and selling hilsa fish during the prohibition period can be punished with a maximum of two years rigorous imprisonment or a fine of up to five thousand taka with both.

Chandpur District Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Mohsin Uddin said, this year the ban on catching hilsa will be strictly observed. Strict action will be taken if any fisherman enters the river during the ban period.
