The leaders of BNP's UK branch said that BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman will return to the country soon after discussions with the party's chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and other top leaders.

United Kingdom BNP President MA Malek said, National leader Begum Khaleda Zia is very sick. He will come out of the country for treatment from Bangladesh. I hope he will go through London. He is waiting for this day.

Barrister Abu Sayem, adviser to the Acting Chairman of BNP, said that as he respects the law, he does not want the normal course of the law to be disturbed. That is why we think that he will return to the country at the appropriate time.

It should be noted that in 2002, Tariq Rahman became the senior joint secretary general of BNP by the decision of the standing committee. Among them, on December 8, 2009, in the Fifth National Council of BNP, he was elected as the Senior Vice Chairman of the party. After BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was convicted in a corruption case on February 8, 2018 and imprisoned on the same day, Tarek Rahman has been serving as the acting chairman of the party.

Currently, Tariq Rahman is managing the party from London on the advice of the BNP Standing Committee. BNP leaders said that under the leadership of Tariq Rahman, there was a movement for the resignation of the Awami League government in Bangladesh. He also gave full support to the anti-discrimination student movement.
