International Desk: The Government of Portugal is going to launch a new visa called humanitarian visa for people who are persecuted or whose lives are in danger in different countries of the world. On October 11, the national parliament of the country approved a bill in this regard.

Under this visa, if someone is persecuted in his country of birth and if living in that country is considered dangerous, that person can apply for this visa at the local Portuguese embassy or the Portuguese embassy of the neighboring country.

Although there is an asylum application process in this regard, that is, currently, if a foreign citizen or stateless person wants to apply for asylum in Portugal, he must apply for asylum at the local immigration office after arriving in Portugal.

Moreover, one more thing has been added to this provision - that is, if a person pays 12 contributions to Social Security, i.e. 12 months, if a foreign national works inside Portugal and pays social contributions every month, he can apply for regularization.

However, after the Portuguese government on June 3 closed the simple law of articles 88 and 89 on the regularization of immigrants, it is not known how those who arrived in Portugal before and after that date will be regularized.

Meanwhile, the rules will now be discussed in the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees and after there final decision, it will be sent to the President. It will come into effect after publication in the form of a Gazette if the President gives the assent.
