The announcement was made earlier by Telangana Chief Minister Revenanth Reddy. As per his announcement in July, Siraj got the rank of DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police).

Siraj does not have the proper educational qualification to become a DSP, he studied upto secondary level. The Telangana administration has created an exceptional example by giving Siraj this responsibility to inspire sports personalities. Reddy said, 'I-Group requires a minimum degree for this job. Siraj has studied only upto Madhyamik. Even we have given him the responsibility of DSP.'

Born in Hyderabad, Telangana, Siraj made his national team debut in 2017. He stepped into ODIs in 2019 and the Test arena the following year. Now, however, he is a regular in both major formats. Has taken 163 wickets in 89 matches for the country in three formats.
