The deceased Farooq is the son of village doctor Shahid Sardar of Sohrab Mandalpara of Daulatdia Union. It is said that he was an activist of Daulatdia Union Chhatra Dal.

Another young man named Alamin (21), Farooq's friend, was seriously injured in the attack. He is the son of Abdus Salam of Daulatdia Shamsu Master neighborhood.

Moniruzzaman, the brother of the deceased Farooq, said that on the occasion of Durga Puja, a fair has been held near the Daulatdia railway station since the day of the puja. Local Ripon and his associates set up gambling in that fair. They were also collecting daily subscriptions from various shops of the fair. Farooq was protesting their gambling and extortion.


Farooq went to Ripon's grocery store in Daulatdia Singapalli at around 9 pm on Saturday night and again asked Ripon to stop the extortion and gambling activities. At this time, Ripon and his accomplices severely injured Farooq's head, back, legs and left hand with sharp weapons.

Later he was rescued and first taken to Golanda Upazila Health Complex. But his condition was serious and he was sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. The doctor on duty there declared Farooq dead at around 11 pm.

Meanwhile, some local sources said that there was a conflict between Farooq and Ripon over the dominance of the area and the sharing of fair subscriptions and gambling money. Due to this conflict two days ago there was a fight between the two groups. On Saturday night Farooq along with 4/5 friends was staying at gate no. At that time Ripon (30), Humayun (25) along with 15/20 armed people appeared there and ambushed Farooq. At that time, they cut Farooq's legs and escaped with serious bloody injuries. Some were injured while trying to stop the attackers. He is the son of Ramzan Fakir of Ainuddin Bepari neighborhood in Daulatdia. Ripon is said to be an activist of Chhatra League.

In this regard, Rajbari Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Sharif Al Rajeeb said, initially it was known that the killings were caused by the efforts of two parties to dominate the football tournament. Efforts are on to arrest accused Ripon and others. In this incident, the family of the deceased is preparing to file a case at the police station.
