Silver hilsa is being sold by miking in Barguna fish market. This hilsa is being sold at a reduced price of Tk 200 to Tk 400 per kg. Various buyers flocked to Barguna fish market after hearing the low price.

This fish is sold by miking in the fish market of Barguna municipality on Saturday night.

It can be seen from the surface fish market, the price of small size hilsa is 500 taka per kg, which was sold for 600 to 700 taka before. And hilsa weighing 700 to 800 grams is being sold at 1400 taka, which was previously sold at 1600 to 1700 taka.

Besides, the sale of hilsa weighing more than one kg is being miked at 1800 taka per kg, which was previously sold from 2000 to 2200 taka. Most of the trawlers from the sea have returned to the wharf due to the ban on fishing. Due to the increase in the supply of hilsa in the market, the sellers are selling hilsa at low prices.

A buyer named Ripon of Barguna Sadar said that he came to buy fish after hearing the miking. Hilsa, which was previously sold at Tk 1500 to Tk 1700, is now being sold at Tk 500 to Tk 800. If fish is sold at such a low price throughout the year, we will all be able to buy and eat it.

Another buyer named Chagir Hossain said that there is a 22-day ban on fishing of all species in the river from 12 midnight on Saturday. I came to buy fish after hearing that hilsa is being sold in the market. Fish which was 700 Tk a kg yesterday is now being sold at 500 Tk. It is very good to buy hilsa at a low price.

Md. Jalil Molla, a fish trader in Barguna, said that since Sunday, the river has been blocked, so all the fishermen have returned to the ghat with trawlers. Wholesalers can no longer buy fish from fishermen and send it to Dhaka. So fish is being sold by miking. Moreover, as the supply of fish is slightly higher, the price is much lower than before.

It should be noted that there is a ban on fishing in all rivers from Saturday midnight till November 3. At this time, nationwide hilsa transportation, buying and selling, and stockpiling have been completely banned.
