Jumbangla Desk: It has been alleged that the principal of Chittagong Imperial College of Nursing Institute was fired due to pregnancy. Not only that, there were allegations that she was thrown out of the college hostel along with her eight-month-old baby in the middle of the night.

The incident took place at the city's Apollo Imperial Hospital on Wednesday (October 9).

The college institution is managed by Imperial Hospital. In appointing and dismissing the principal of the college, there is an obligation to take the approval of the appointment committee along with the Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong Medical University. Dolly Akhter alleged that she was fired for not accepting that.

According to the dismissal notice, no reason was given for Principal Dolly's dismissal. It is mentioned that Principal Dolly has been sacked by the Imperial Hospital Authority's decision. Dismissed principal Dolly Akhter said, I was fired without giving any reason for being pregnant for two consecutive years. At midnight he was taken out of the hostel and put in a hotel in the city by the Imperial Hospital Limited, now the Apollo Imperial Hospital Authority.

He said, due to pregnancy last year, I got four months maternity leave as per the rules of the institution. Then, due to illness, on September 21, the obstetrician of Imperial Hospital Dr. Dil went to Anjiz. I was confirmed to be pregnant again with the doctor's advice.

In this situation, the college authorities kept harassing me in various ways and the HR department officials kept saying 'You took maternity leave for four months last year and you will take leave again this year, so you should leave with your resignation letter.

He also said that since I did not resign, on the morning of October 9, the authorities called me to the Human Resource Department. There, he was asked to submit his resignation letter immediately, otherwise he would be terminated. After that, if I don't say that I will resign, then a photocopy of the notice of dismissal is given and immediately all the documents related to the college are handed over to the college secretary and asked to leave the college hostel.

Principal Dolly Akhter said, I have been staying in the college hostel for the past 3 years since the beginning of my employment, and even during the maternity leave last year, I stayed in the hostel and helped the college work. As my family was staying in Dhaka, I requested the authorities to give me a few days to leave the hostel.
