Jumba Bangla Desk: The gold crown given to the idol of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been stolen from Jashoreshwari Temple in Shyamnagar, Satkhira. Satkhira District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Monirul Islam has announced a reward for finding the thief in this incident.

He announced the award in a post on social media Facebook on Friday (October 11).

In a Facebook post, he wrote, the gold crown of the idol's head was stolen from Jashoreshwari temple in Shyamnagar, Satkhira. If the thief is caught, the district police will give a special reward to the finder.

It is reported that the gold crown was stolen between 2:47 PM and 2:50 PM on October 10. After this incident, a young man was seen stealing the crown from the temple's CCTV footage.

Priest Dilip Kumar Banerjee said, like every day after the puja on Thursday afternoon, priest Dilip Kumar Banerjee went home with the key of the temple to Rekha Sarkar who was in charge of the services there. At that time devotees from different places including Rekha were present in the temple premises. Later, on March 27, 2021, the crown of the statue given by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was stolen from there.

Rekha Sarkar, who is in charge of services, said, after finishing the puja with a meal in the afternoon, Purohit Babu handed over the keys of the temple to me and went home. After that I went to the tubewell next door to wash the utensils used in the puja. After coming from there after 1 to 2 minutes, I saw that the crown of the idol's head was missing. Later I informed everyone in the temple.

Crowded to buy hilsa even late at night

Fakir Taijur Rahman, Inspector (Investigation) of Shyamnagar Police Station, said that an investigation is underway by analyzing the CCTV footage to catch those involved in the theft of the gold crown given to the idol of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Jashoreshwari Temple.
