Jumbangla Desk: Recently, news came out from sources in New Delhi and London that India has given Sheikh Hasina a 'travel document' to travel abroad to seek safe haven in a third country or to save her political life. Delhi's South Block has neither confirmed nor denied the truth of the information till date. Dhaka was also silent. Secretaries or officials are not available due to government holidays. The local journalists were able to confront the adviser Touhid Hossain after visiting the Puja Mandap recently.

Where the advisor was asked whether the news of India's 'travel document' being given to Sheikh Hasina is true or not. Supplementary question, will it have any effect on Dhaka-Delhi multi-dimensional relationship?

In response, Tauhid Hossain said, 'Travel document can be issued by any country to any person. We have no way to prevent it. But if the court orders him (Sheikh Hasina) to appear in any case, then we will certainly take appropriate measures to return him.

Advisor to the interim government, Touhid Hossain, rejected the fear of loss or deterioration of relations with the country due to India giving 'travel document' to the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled in the face of the bloody mass coup.

Sheikh Hasina fled to India after resigning in the student uprising on August 5. Since then, the government is getting information that he is in New Delhi. Nobel laureate economist Professor Dr. The interim government led by Muhammad Yunus announced the revocation of the diplomatic passport of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. As a result, the only option is to issue an Indian travel document for his status in Delhi or to seek safe haven elsewhere. So that there is an opportunity to get visa of other countries including India.

A Bangladesh newspaper published news a few days ago that Sheikh Hasina, who is under special arrangement in Delhi, can leave India. Then the process of his moving elsewhere began. In the meantime, the London expatriate journalist got information that the Indian government had issued a travel document in his favor last Wednesday.

According to reports about an influential leader of UK Awami League close to Sheikh Rehana's family, Sheikh Hasina can travel to any country in the world with a visa in the travel document issued by the Indian government. In this regard, the foreign adviser said without any hesitation on Saturday, India or any country can issue a 'travel document' in favor of anyone. We have no way to prevent it. Referring to the importance of good relations with our close neighbor India, Tauhid Hossain said, "We had some discomfort with India, we are trying to overcome that." The existing relationship between us will continue. He said that the development of relations should be in the interest of both. As India needs us, we also need India.'

One of India's top diplomats who served as High Commissioner in Dhaka was saying, 'If India has really given Sheikh Hasina a travel document, I will not be surprised at all. Because this is the most natural and expected step in this situation.'

He explained that most of the hundreds of thousands of Tibetan refugees living in different parts of India do not hold Indian passports. Instead, they travel to different countries of the world with this type of 'travel document' (abbreviated as 'TD'). TD is not a passport, but a special type of 'identity card' issued by the Government of India; With which one can travel abroad. Different countries of the world give visa to it. Its official name is 'Identity Certificate' or IC. While normal Indian passports are dark blue in colour, the IC is usually issued in the form of a yellow colored booklet. The 14th Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader, fled to India in 1959 to escape China's eyes and was granted political asylum in the country. He also travels around the world with such a 'travel document' or IC. Although he had the opportunity to get an Indian passport, he did not take it. Second or third generation Tibetans born on Indian soil are also entitled to Indian citizenship by birth. But India has given most of them 'TD' or 'IC' instead of passport. They are traveling to different countries of the world with it. The former diplomat of India was also saying, 'I don't know whether India will give political asylum to Sheikh Hasina or not. But the way the events of the last two months have unfolded, I see a lot of similarities between the Dalai Lama's case and Sheikh Hasina's case. As long as you stay in India, Sheikh Hasina will sit idly by, this cannot happen anymore. The Dalai Lama did the same, pursuing politics and diplomacy and visiting many countries around the world. Similarly, due to political necessity, it is natural that Sheikh Hasina also has to go outside India to meet the leaders and activists of the party scattered around the world. Realizing that reality, it would not be surprising if India gave him 'TD' or 'IC'.

On the other hand, news has come out from different sources in the foreign media - former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is facing continuous diplomatic and political challenges after her resignation on August 5. He is seeking temporary asylum in India as a comfort zone. He also tried to get asylum in the United Arab Emirates as an alternative. But Emirates did not accept him. According to a source, he has already failed in one attempt to enter the Emirates! He had to spend 17 hours blocked at the airport! Sheikh Hasina's failed attempt to seek asylum abroad for a change in political status indicates that her options in the international arena are diminishing.

Meanwhile, according to other sources, Sheikh Hasina is staying in Delhi under certain conditions. Although its historical ally is India. The United States and other global powers are unhappy with Sheikh Hasina's position in India. This is a hidden pressure on Delhi. It can be recalled that Professor Dr. The interim government led by Muhammad Yunus has indicated that it will try to extradite Hasina for corruption and human rights violations. If he stays in India until then, there will be tension with Bangladesh.

It should be noted that Sheikh Hasina sought asylum in Britain before the Emirates. But they also refused to accept him.
