Zoom-Bangla Desk: TikTok has already laid off 700 employees from various offices in Malaysia, which is the highest layoff. In addition, the site is also in the process of laying off staff from TikTok's branch offices in other countries. However, TikTok authorities say that 500 workers have been laid off from Malaysia. The reason for such mass layoffs is said to be the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

ByteDance, the Chinese company that owns TikTok, said that the company authorities have decided to use artificial intelligence (AI) for the operation of TikTok's content moderation department. That is why the employees of this department are being laid off.

It should be noted that TikTok's content moderation department is responsible for giving a green signal to which video or content can be uploaded. That is, when any content comes, the employees of this department check whether it is in accordance with the organization's policy or not. If the content complies with the organization's policy, it is given a green signal for upload by the content moderation department. If not matched, it is not uploaded. And this work will now be done entirely through AI technology. Due to which a large number of content moderation department staff are practically idle. Hence this retrenchment process.

"We are making these layoffs and increasing technology reliance as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen our global operating model for content moderation," a TikTok spokesperson said in a statement.
