On Sunday, the participants of the 'Sindh Rawadari March' faced police obstacles at various places including Karachi Press Club and Tin Talwar.

TV and video footage showed police baton-charging and detaining protesters.

Section 144 was promulgated in Karachi. However, when the protesters continued to gather in front of the Press Club in violation of Section 144, the police resorted to lathicharge and both sides clashed. Meanwhile, four policemen were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Karachi South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Reza told reporters, "At least 20 people, including women, have been arrested so far."

Meanwhile, Karachi police fired tear gas at protesters belonging to a religious organization near the Governor House and additional police were deployed on all roads leading to the Press Club. Also, 27 protesters, including women, were detained near Tin Talwar.

On the other hand, protesters pelted stones near Metropole Hotel, injuring two policemen and also reportedly set fire to a police van.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanzar said some protesters were detained for violating Section 144 and warned of strict action against those who violate the law.

He also said that an inquiry has been ordered into the allegations of misbehavior with journalists in the Karachi Press Club and strict action will be taken against the guilty.
