22 thousand expatriates arrested in Saudi Arabia

International Desk: 22,000 expatriates have been arrested in Saudi Arabia for violating the Housing, Labor and Border Protection Act. According to the report of Gulf News on Sunday, the law enforcement forces conducted this operation between October 3 and 9.

According to the statement of the Ministry of Interior of the country, among those arrested, 14 thousand 269 people were arrested for violating the Housing Law, 5 thousand 230 people were caught for violating the Border Security Law and 3 thousand 494 people were caught for violating the Labor Law.


In addition, 1,378 people were arrested while trying to cross the border illegally into Saudi Arabia, most of them Yemeni and Ethiopian nationals.

Eighty people were detained for trying to leave Saudi Arabia illegally and 19 for harboring and transporting violators of housing and labor regulations. Currently, legal action is pending against 15,136 people.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, about 7,211 of the arrested expatriates will be sent back to their home countries. Meanwhile, 11 thousand 907 people have been sent to the country.
