In 2023, more than 13 lakh 75 thousand candidates filled the form to participate in HSC and equivalent exams. 13 lakh 57 thousand 915 candidates participated in the examination. And 1 million 67 thousand 852 candidates passed. Accordingly, 3 lakh 7 thousand 723 candidates failed. Among them, 17 thousand 660 candidates filled the HSC and equivalent exam form but failed without participating in the exam. And 2 lakh 90 thousand 63 candidates could not pass the HSC and equivalent exams.
HSC and equivalent examinations started simultaneously across the country from last June 30. Due to the violence surrounding the quota reform movement, the exams on July 18, 21, 23 and 25, 28, August 1 and 4 were postponed. Finally, the exam was scheduled to be held from September 11 in the new schedule. But hundreds of examinees unexpectedly entered the central secretariat of the administration on August 20 at noon with the demand of publishing the HSC results based on the ones that have been conducted without retaking the exams.
Later, in a meeting with their representatives, the Ministry of Education decided to cancel the remaining exams. Later it is decided, on the basis of marks of SSC or equivalent examination (subject mapping) the results of HSC or equivalent examination will be canceled midway. The answer sheets of the subjects which have already been examined will be evaluated and the results will be published. And for those subjects which have not been examined, the results will be published on the basis of SSC or equivalent examination results by subject mapping.
There is a policy for topic mapping. In this process the marks obtained by a candidate in a subject in SSC, if that subject is in HSC, the entire marks obtained in SSC will be taken into consideration. And in case of difference regarding SSC and HSC and equivalent examination, the result will be published considering the marks as per subject mapping policy.
