Shahriar Alam is a four-time Member of Parliament (MP) from Rajshahi-6 (Bagha-Charghat) Constituency. He was in charge of State Minister of Foreign Affairs for two periods. However, seeing that the situation was dire before the uprising of the students, he surrendered on the night of August 4. Eight cases have already been filed against Shahriar in his constituency Bagha and Charghat police stations.

However, the residents of Bagha-Charghat say about Shahriar's current location, Shahriar was still at his Adani residence on the afternoon of August 4. He stopped communicating with the activists from the evening. He left home early in the morning on August 5 and reached Gede border by road. Then he entered India. From there he is staying in Russia via Thailand.
According to the investigation, Shahriar suddenly appeared in Bagha-Charghat in the middle of 2007. Garment trader Shahriar became known to people by distributing some food items. After that he became MP in 2008 election with Awami League ticket. At that time, the amount of movable assets in the affidavit was 2 crore 3 lakh 20 thousand rupees. The debt was 76 crore 14 lakh 29 thousand 422 taka. In the last election of 2024, he showed movable assets of 89 crore 24 lakh 9 thousand 973 taka. 76 crores of debt in his name is also shown to be paid. That is, during this time he has acquired at least 165 crores worth of movable assets.
The investigation also revealed that in 2014, Shahriar bought the 37th century land of a cinema hall in Niamppur of Charghat Sadar for only 50 lakh taka under the power of the government. In 2022, Shahriar Alam bought 33 percent of the land from a person named Biswanath Rameka near the upazila land office in Charghat Sadar. Also, more information about the purchase of Shahriar's land in Bagha, Lalpur and Ishwardi under different names has been found.
Shahriar married secondly to Sylvia Parveen Leni, daughter of an Awami League leader of Lalpur Upazila of Natore near Bagha. Shahriar made Leni's mother Roksana Mortuza the mayor in 2021. Gave Lenny a house worth crores of rupees in Lalpur. Gave Lenny a royal flat of 3 thousand 600 square feet in Gulshan, Dhaka. In the latest 2024 election affidavit, Shahriar has shown 51 bigha of agricultural and non-agricultural land in his name. But according to the affidavit submitted before the 2008 elections, Shahriar had no immovable assets. Besides, in 2020, Shahriar bought 40 bigha of land in the same plot at Basantpur intersection of Godagari upazila of Rajshahi. The owner of that land was Golam Mostafa, a resident of Bagha Upazila Sadar. His allegation-Shahriar Alam took possession of the land by fraud without paying the price of the land.
Also, Shahriar Alam bought 13 bigha of land in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district in 2017. A farmhouse has also been built there. Basically Shahriar Alam spent his childhood in Lalmonirhat district. On that occasion, he bought land and built a farmhouse there. His longtime APS Sirajul Islam Siraj's house is also in Kaliganj upazila. Shahriar Alam's father. Shamsuddin was a railway employee. Due to that he spent a long time in Lalmonirhat.

Residents complain that after becoming an MP in 2008, Shahriar has carried out extensive looting in his constituency due to the addiction of developing these lands and wealth. He single-handedly controlled all government grants and schemes including TR-Kabikha through his APS Siraj. Trade even hires school-college-madrasa teachers. He took huge amount of money through APS for various jobs including job, transfer. No one had a chance to get TR-Kabikha or government grants without paying into the state minister's fund.
