The bank's current director Noor Mohammad, who is known to be close to Majumdar, is leading the takeover process in the name of bank reform. He was once the chairman of this bank. He has been accused of embezzling several hundred crores of rupees. He lost his chairmanship after the central bank accused him of corruption and irregularities. After the formation of the new government, Jatiya Party's former MP Noor Mohammad is trying to take over in the name of bank reform. There is a case against him on charges of murder in the student uprising.

According to Jamuna Bank sources, Nazrul Islam Majumdar Gang became active under the leadership of Noor Mohammad, the director of the bank, after the interim government came. Attempts are being made to take over and loot the country's first bank for the sake of reform. Bankers say that Yamuna is the only one in the banking sector

The chairman is changing every year in the bank. In view of the notification of Bangladesh Bank, the term of the chairman has been made two years from last year. Due to these reasons, institutional good governance has been established in the bank. The bank is in a good position in all the indicators as there is no unethical pressure on the managers to give and take loans.

But recently, in the name of reforms, the former chairman and director of the bank, Noor Mohammad, is trying to break the conventional continuity and become the chairman himself before the time. Not only that, he is pressuring the board and management authorities to give loans to the company owned by Nazrul Islam Majumdar.

According to sources, Nazrul Islam Majumder and Noor Mohammad are known to be very close to the Sheikh Hasina government. It was under their leadership that subscriptions were collected from the then prime minister's fund by pressing various issues from the banking sector. A case of murder has been filed against Noor Mohammad at Dhanmondi Police Station for his involvement in the killings during the July student uprising. At that time, allegations of nepotism and direct interference in the activities of the bank's management authority were made against him.

It was even caught in Bangladesh Bank's inspection. The inspection proved that he had given jobs to his daughter, son-in-law and his close friends for the sake of the bank's interests.

According to the inspection report, Noor Mohammad appointed his daughter Sadia bint Noor as a doctor at the Jamuna Bank Foundation Complex. In the financial year 2022-23, he received salary from two sources as administrator of the complex and head of dental, whose account number is 00100310026985 and whose total amount is about 56 lakh 31 thousand. Later, due to the objection of Bangladesh Bank, Sadia was forced to return Tk 24 lakh 37 thousand 500 on December 4, 2023.

Not only that, at that time he also unethically appointed his son-in-law Kazi Mohammad Hannanur Rahman as the doctor of the complex. But he was working in government service. Disregarding any rules, he appointed a 65-year-old retired district judge to the bank. He even gave a job in Jamuna Bank to a woman who was nominated by the Awami League government as the upazila vice chairman.

In addition, using the influence of the bank, Noor Mohammad's corruption spread to the contracting business of government construction projects. The bank's board and management used unethical pressure to give loans to contractors. He used to work on their projects as a sub-contractor by making irregularities in the assessment of the loan of the contracting company. That is, he used to do business with bank money.
