In the phone conversation, the two leaders discussed the process of halting the ongoing Israeli offensive in southern Lebanon and implementing a ceasefire. Iran's official news agency IRNA gave this news in a report.

Although France has disagreements over different policies of Tehran, the Lebanon issue has created an opportunity for the two countries to talk together. Because Iran has been providing economic and military training to the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah for years.

According to the report, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian confirmed that Iran wants a safe and stable region. Free from war and tension, Iran favors peace. It will therefore support any initiative aimed at ending the ceasefire and regional conflict.

In recent times, Macron has been strongly criticizing the Israeli operation in Lebanon. He also urged Israel to stop this operation 'as soon as possible'. Not only that, Macron urged Israel to stop supplying weapons to stop indiscriminate attacks on civilians.

The only way to end Israel's conflict with Hamas and Hezbollah is to cut off the arms supply to the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. The French president thinks so.

France has historical ties with Lebanon. Lebanon was a French colony until World War II. The country is still heavily influenced by French authorities.
