Jumbangla Desk: An old man has gone missing after falling into the river during idol immersion in Naogaon. The name of the missing old man is Chittaranjan Chakraborty (62). At that time, son Gaur Chakraborty immediately jumped into the river to save his old father but failed to find him.

The accident took place on Sunday (October 13) at 6:30 pm in the Daher Ghat area of ​​the small Yamuna river in the city.

This was confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station Noore Alam Siddiqui.

Locals said that old Chittaranjan Chakraborty lived in a rented house in Naogaon area of ​​the city. He used to work as an employee of rice trader Belal Hossain. When the news of his disappearance spread around, the fire service and senior police officers reached there immediately. After that, the local diving team started trying to find him.

According to the family of the missing Chittaranjan, in the afternoon he boarded a boat to participate in the boating of Par-Naogaon Barwari Sarvajanin Pujamandap in Alupatti area of ​​the city. Chittaranjan suddenly fell into the water from the moving boat during the idol worship in the evening at the end of the boating. Gaur Chakraborty's son immediately jumped into the river when he noticed that he had fallen into the water. But after trying for a long time, at one stage Gaur failed and came up from the river. The diving team of Naogaon could not find Chittaranjan Chakraborty even after trying till 11 pm. At last at 11:30 p.m., a special diving team from Rajshahi worked to find him.

In this regard, OC Nur Alam Siddiqui said that our diving team has been working since Sunday evening to rescue the missing person. Currently, a special diving team from Rajshahi has taken part in the rescue operation. Every life is precious, so maximum efforts will be made to save Chittaranjan.
