It said the Mumbai Airport Authority received a bomb threat on Twitter. The matter was then reported to the security agencies. Later the Air India flight was asked to land at New Delhi airport.
In a statement, Air India said there was a specific security risk on flight AI 119 from Mumbai to New York's John F Kennedy Airport. The aircraft was landed in Delhi as per the instructions of the security agencies. All passengers have been disembarked from the aircraft.
A police official said the aircraft was parked near the airport's isolation runway. The assistance of bomb squad members of security agencies has been sought. The matter is under investigation.
