Police arrested a man armed with a weapon at a rally of Republican candidate and former US President Donald Trump in Coachella, California on Saturday. A shotgun, a loaded handgun, ammunition and multiple fake passports were seized from the arrested man, authorities said.

The Associated Press (AP) reported this in a report.

The Secret Service said it was aware of the arrests and that neither Trump nor the rally attendees were in any danger during Saturday's incident.

According to the AP report, the suspect was granted bail on the same day with a bond of 5,000 US dollars. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 2, 2025.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said at a news conference on Sunday, "The suspect (49) is a resident of Las Vegas. The man was driving an unregistered black SUV. He was stopped at a security checkpoint outside the public meeting.

He further said, 'Later that person introduced himself as a journalist. But seeing his incoherent speech and messy condition inside the car, the responsible officers started searching. Then they found arms and ammunition, multiple fake passports and driving licenses.

Earlier, Trump's election rally in Pennsylvania was shot for the first time. Although the bullet hits Trump's ear at that time. Then there was a second attempt to attack Trump in Florida. However, this time Trump was not shot or injured. However, the activities of the suspect who was arrested with weapons from the public meeting cannot be ruled out.

"If you were to ask me right now, I would say — our deputies probably prevented (Trump's) third assassination attempt," the sheriff told reporters.

Trump's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press about the arrest.
