After undergoing treatment for more than two months, the name of another student named Kausar Mahmud of Chittagong BGC Trust University has finally been added to the list of martyrs. Last August 2 in the city's Newmarket, he posted a photo of the movement on his profile and wrote, 'Fagun is coming, not twice, but 16 crores.' This was Kausar's last Facebook status.
Two days later, he was seriously injured in an attack by police and Chhatra League in Newmarket. After 70 days on the brink of life and death, he left for the land of no return.
Kausar Mahmud died on Sunday (October 13) around 10:30 pm while undergoing treatment at Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
Kausar is the son of Abdul Motaleb of Bhatra Union of Ramganj Upazila of Lakshmipur District. Abdul Motaleb has lived with his family at Chittagong Karmas College Road in Motaleb Nagar for a long time.
Kawsar Mahmud's father Abdul Motaleb said that Kawsar's janaza will be held at Central Shaheed Minar on Monday around 12:30 pm. From there the body will be taken to Chittagong. There will be a funeral on Monday night at Abdur Rahman Matbar Jame Mosque. After the funeral, he will be buried in the cemetery next to the mosque.
Meanwhile, everyone, including friends and relatives, is crying over the news of Kausar's death. August 9 was Kausar's 22nd birthday. On that day, Kausar's younger brother Sultal Mahmood posted a birthday cake and a picture of Kausar under treatment on Facebook and wrote, Happy birthday brother. Today it has been two months and 10 days without water to speak properly. It's not good if I don't quarrel with you for a day. But I can't talk to you today.

Kausar Mahmud, a student of BGC Trust University, got involved in the movement from the beginning of the anti-discrimination student movement. He was active in the New Market and Dewanhat movement in the city. On August 4, students took part in the pre-announced movement at New Market. At around 11:30 am, police, Chhatra League, Jubo League and armed terrorists attacked the students.
At that time Kausar fell on the ground after being hit by tear-shells thrown by the police. Then he was severely beaten by the Chhatra League and his kidney was injured. Kausar was admitted to the city's Islami Bank Hospital on August 5. Doctors said that Kausar, who was seriously injured, had lost two kidneys. Kausar was on life support at Islami Bank Hospital for two weeks. Kausar was later taken to Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital (CMH) by the anti-discrimination student movement. This student received martyrdom after 70 days of treatment.
Kausar told the incident that happened to him. In an interview given to a private television, Kausar said, "I fell down on the road after eating the tearcell of the police. That's where Chhatra League hit home. Sleep at home without telling parents. Later I got pains and cramps.'
