India's progress to the semi-finals depended on Pakistan winning. Pakistan needed to reach the target in 11.3 overs to top New Zealand and India and reach the last four.

New Zealand entered this tournament after losing 10 consecutive T20 matches. They defeated the three Asian teams India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan and reached the semi-finals. They lost against Australia in the group stage.

New Zealand has been eliminated from the group stage in the last three tournaments. Runners-up in the first two editions, the team later exited from the semi-finals twice in 2012 and 2016.

New Zealand batted first and scored 110 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday. Pakistan could have stopped New Zealand for fewer runs, but they dropped 8 catches. Chasing the target, Pakistan were all out for 56 runs in 11.4 overs.

This is the second lowest team score in the Women's T20 World Cup. Earlier in the 2018 tournament, Bangladesh was bowled out for 46 runs against the West Indies.

It is also the second lowest by any team against New Zealand. Here too, Bangladesh are on top, they were bowled out for 32 runs in Christchurch in 2022.

Pakistan's previous lowest in this edition was 60, against England in 2009.
