Science and Technology Desk: No matter what computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone you are thinking of buying, the first thing that comes to your mind is RAM. A very important part of these devices is RAM. We are more or less familiar with the term RAM. RAM is basically a means of data storage, that is, it is a kind of temporary memory that is stopped or switched off when the computer, laptop, tab or mobile phone etc. is turned off, and all the information in it is deleted. Today we will know in detail about what is RAM, its history and its function. Without further ado, let's find out.

RAM

All documents, videos, games and programs are usually stored on the device's hard drive or SSD. It is usually the computer's long-term memory, where any content remains until it is removed. Whenever a program is launched on a computer, data is moved from the hard drive to the RAM. Then it starts the CPU process. The processed data is then returned to RAM. It remains there until the program or the PC is shut down.

RAM is temporary and volatile storage. It's more like a table set up for a PC. The more RAM, the more powerful the computer. What we commonly call RAM is actually DRAM or Dynamic Random Access Memory. There is also a different type of RAM called VRAM, which performs a similar function in graphics cards. In theory, a computer can run without RAM. Maybe it will slow down a bit. Because the CPU will then read directly from the hard drive.

In addition to size (8 GB, 16 GB or more) when buying RAM, features to look for include DDR and frequency; which is expressed in megahertz or mhg.

DDR stands for Double Data Rate, which has been used as an important indicator of RAM measurement for over a decade. Most motherboards in the market are using DDR4 RAM. If your motherboard uses DDR3 RAM then it needs to be upgraded to DDR4 RAM. DDR4 is more advanced and more powerful than DDR3, released in 2014. Another advantage of DDR4 is that it runs at lower voltages. It makes the battery of devices like laptops and phones last for a long time.

DDR4 cannot be used in place of DDR3 if the motherboard is not capable. DDR5 is now available in the market, which will provide higher frequencies. However, it is not yet commercially available.

There are many misconceptions about RAM size. 16 GB RAM is able to carry on normal work. If the CPU and GPU are the same, there will be no difference between 8GB and 32GB RAM.

The government canceled the CIP card of 2023

TechRadar has published a list of 10 such models that have been discussed as powerful RAM in 2021. According to the US-based technology site, the RAMs that have emerged as strongest in terms of performance in the year ended are: 1. Corsair Vengeance LED, 2. G Dot Skill Trident G RGB, 3. Kingston HyperX Predator, 4. Kingston HyperX Fury, 5. Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB, 6. HyperX Fury RGB 3733 MHz, 7. G Dot Skill Trident G RGB DC, 8. Adata Spectrix D80, 9. G Dot Skill Trident G Royal and 10. Corsair Vengeance LPX.
