Three people from the same family, including women and children, were killed when a truck hit a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw standing on the road in Mirsarai. The accident took place at the head of Bartakia Khaiachra Jharna road of Mirsarai upazila on Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Tuesday around 1.30 pm.

At this time, three others were injured. One of the injured is in critical condition.
Highway police and fire service personnel recovered the body.
The deceased are Kajal's daughter Rekha (25), mother Noorjahan (55), Kajal's son Anas (seven months). All of them are residents of Zaman Mistribari of Dakshin Bagachtar village of Syedpur union of Sitakunda upazila.
According to the police, they were going to a relative's house in East Khaiachra area in a CNG auto-rickshaw from the metropolitan area of Sitakunda upazila. Khayachra Jharna stood at the head of the road before dropping off the passengers when a speeding truck laden with corn hit it from behind and overturned and fell into the ditch. At that time, three people died on the spot when the CNG autorickshaw overturned. Three injured have been taken to hospital.
Imam Hossain Patwari, Station Officer of Mirsrai Fire Service and Civil Defense said that the trapped CNG passengers have been rescued. Three died on the spot. Three others were injured.
Zorarganj Highway police in-charge Sohel Sarkar said that the bodies of three people were taken to Upazila Health Complex in an accident at Baratakia Khaiachra Jharna road. The body will be handed over to the family after the legal process.
