Enviable result in HSC Sabuj killed in anti-discrimination student movement in Sherpur

Jumbangla Desk: Sabuj Mia of Sherpur, who was killed in the anti-discrimination student movement, has passed the HSC examination with a GPA of 4.33.

In the HSC results on Tuesday (October 15), Sabuj has passed with 'A' grade from Srivardi Government College.

Meanwhile, the teachers and classmates are happy with Sabuj Mia's result, but the family is mourning the loss of a child and brother.

Sabuj's mother Sameja Begum said, "My son has got good results." But this result will not be of any use to us.

He further said that we want the real culprits to be brought under the law and justice done. We demand execution of the killers.

Sabuj was the son of Azahar Ali of Ruparpara village in Khariakajirchar union of Srivardi. Green is the second of two brothers and two sisters. Father became paralyzed after his sister's marriage. After that, Sabuj took charge of the family. Besides studying, he worked in the shop and studied with his own income besides running the family.


Sabuj appeared for the HSC 2024 examination under the Mymensingh Education Board. Nationwide anti-discrimination student movement started during the examination. He was shot dead in Sherpur district town on August 4 during the movement.

Professor AKM Alif Ullah Ahsan, principal of Srivardi Government College, said Sabuj was a brilliant student. It is no small thing to achieve this result by carrying on the expenses of a family of six members. We teachers along with his classmates are happy with his results.

He also said that only his family is not able to take this joy due to the loss of his son and brother. We pray for his departed soul to rest in peace. I stand by the bereaved family and will continue to do so in the future.

It is to be noted that his brother Saddam Hossain filed a murder case in Sherpur Sadar Police Station as the plaintiff in the murder of Sabuj Mia. District Awami League president former whip Atiur Rahman Atiq, general secretary former MP Chanuar Hossain Chanu, former district council chairman Humayun Kabir Ruman, former municipal mayor Golam Mohammad Kibria Liton, former upazila chairman Md. Along with Rafiqul Islam, more than four hundred leaders of Awami League and various affiliated organizations have been charged.
