Dengue claimed 8 more lives, 1108 people in hospital in one day

Besides, 108 people have been admitted to the hospital due to dengue. With this, 44 thousand 764 people have been admitted to hospital due to dengue this year.

All this information was informed in the dengue notification of the Department of Health on Tuesday (October 15) evening.

According to the notification, 1 thousand 108 people have been admitted to the hospital due to dengue in the last 24 hours. Among them, 338 are from Dhaka City Corporation and the rest are from outside Dhaka. At this time, 1,137 people were discharged from the hospital.

So far this year, 44 thousand 764 people have been admitted to hospital due to dengue. Among them, 40 thousand 861 people got clearance. 223 people died.


According to the Department of Health, among the new admissions in the hospital, there are 101 people in Barisal Division, 160 in Chittagong Division, 281 in Dhaka Division (outside City Corporation), 164 in Dhaka North City, 174 in Dhaka South City, 122 in Khulna Division. Besides, 30 dengue patients have been admitted to hospital in Mymensingh division, 52 in Rajshahi division, 18 in Rangpur division and 6 in Sylhet division.

Dengue outbreaks occur every year during the rainy season. From June 2023, the dengue situation became dire. Last year, 321 thousand 179 patients were admitted to the hospital and received treatment in the country. Out of which 100,800 people are in Dhaka and 211,171 people are outside Dhaka.

Last year, 3 lakh 18 thousand 749 dengue patients returned home after recovery. Last year, 1,705 people died of dengue, the highest death toll in a single year in the country's history.

In 2019, 1 lakh 1 thousand 354 people were infected with dengue and about 300 people died. In 2020, dengue transmission was low during the corona pandemic. The following year in 2021, 28,429 people were infected with dengue and 105 people died. In 2022, a total of 62,382 people with dengue were admitted to the hospital, of which 281 died.
