After being closed for the last two days, the supply of eggs has started to return to normal in the capital's Tejgaon wholesale market. However, although the government has fixed the retail price at 11 taka 87 paisa, it is being sold at a higher price of about one and a half taka in wholesale.

Even though the capital's Tejgaon wholesale market was roaring, a row of egg-laden trucks started arriving from midnight on Tuesday (October 15). However, eggs are changing hands several times from the producer to the wholesale stage. And this is how the price of eggs is increasing at an abnormal rate at every level.

To control the market price of eggs by discussing with the producers and wholesalers, the government fixed the wholesale price at 11 taka one paisa and the retail price at 11 taka 87 paisa per piece. However, it is being sold at 12 taka 50 paisa in the wholesale market.

Wholesalers claim that retail prices are also high due to buying at a higher price of about one and a half rupees per piece. However, retail traders claim that this anarchy has occurred in the egg market due to large companies at the producer level.

Buyers say, just fixing the price will not work; There should be strict monitoring whether the government is selling at the fixed rate or not.
