Jumbangla Desk: The body of student Shakib Anjum, who was killed in Rajshahi in the anti-discrimination student movement, was exhumed after 72 days. Later, the body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.

The body was removed from the Tikapara cemetery of the city on the order of the court at around 8 am on Wednesday. Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Ayan Farhan Shams, investigation officer of the case, police and family members of the deceased were present during the recovery of the body.

Moshiar Rahman, OC of Rajshahi city detective police and investigation officer of the case, said that after the mass uprising of August 5, the body of Shakib Anjum was buried without post mortem due to lack of police and doctors. For that reason, the investigating officer requested the court to remove the body from the grave for the sake of proper investigation of the case. The body was removed from the grave when the court ordered. Re-burial will be done in the same cemetery after the post-mortem.

In connection with the death of Barendra University student Shakib Anjum in Rajshahi, the victim's father, Mainul Haque, named 42 people including AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and 342 Awami League leaders and activists in Boalia Model Police Station. Initially, Boalia police station investigated but later Nagar DB police got the responsibility of investigating this case.

Moshiar Rahman, OC of Rajshahi city detective police and the investigating officer of the case, said that in this case, several people including the general secretary of the metropolitan Awami League D.B. Sarkar, Jubo League leader Rubel have been arrested. Meanwhile, the police have remanded the W government for 16 days in two phases.

According to the statement of the case, Shakib Anjum was shot and died near Shah Mukhdoom College during the clash between Awami League leaders and students in Rajshahi on August 5. He was shot dead twice.
