Science and Technology Desk: As the world's first humanoid robot artist, 'AI-da Robot' is going to make history by getting the opportunity to sell his artwork at a major auction.

Aiden Meller led the team behind the creation of this 'ultra-realistic' robot. The robot is designed in the image of a woman, which can create various drawings, paintings and sculptures using artificial intelligence technology.

Its paintings include a portrait of Alan Turing, the father of modern computer science, which will be featured in the October edition of British auction house Sotheby's digital art sale. It is estimated that its price will rise from one hundred and thirty thousand dollars to about two hundred thousand dollars.

Titled 'AI God', this giant portrait is seven and a half feet tall, which has been created using various AI algorithms. And to draw the picture, the robot took the help of a camera in its own eyes and a bionic arm, according to the report of the British daily Independent.

It was first exhibited at the United Nations in May 2024 as part of a five-panel painting.

Sotheby's upcoming auction will feature a variety of examples of the convergence of art and technology, with a range of images from digital art that reflect the ongoing trends in the sector.

The auction company said the event will also pay tribute to pioneering women artists who have played a role in the evolution of digital art.

The AI-D robot uses its own advanced AI language model to speak. In his words, "I commemorated Alan Turing's achievements and contributions to the development of computing and AI technologies by creating his artwork."

“My artwork is also in line with the United Nations Principles on Responsible Use of AI Technology. Even Alan Turing himself might have been in favor of it.”

"In the 50s, Alan Turing himself expressed apprehensions about the use of AI technology," added Meller, director of AI-D Robot Studio.

“AI-Dr's portrait brings back Alan Turing in a ghostly way, with its use of muted tones and broken facial planes. Even in its background the shadowy form of Turing's famous 'Bombe' machine looms."

A bomb is an electro-mechanical device used by British cryptologists during World War II to decipher various secret messages encrypted in the German 'Enigma' machine.

"Turing's warning about managing AI is also reflected in this artwork."

Portraits of Billie Eilish, Diana Ross, Kendrick Lamar and Sir Paul McCartney were also featured at the 2022 Glastonbury Festival.

The same year, the robot created a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II for her 70th wedding anniversary. It even demonstrated the potential impact of this technology on the creative sector as the first AI-powered robot to the country's parliamentary committee working on the matter.

Sotheby's 'Digital Art Sale' will run from October 31 to November 7.
