Drink electrolytes

Most of the people sweat even after coming back from the hot sun outside. When the sweat dries, some white spots appear on dark colored t-shirts, these are simply electrolytes. Electrolytes are minerals that carry an electrical charge when dissolved in certain liquids. Human body needs sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate, calcium, magnesium and phosphate. Our body produces bicarbonate through its own biological process. We can meet our phosphate and calcium needs from what we eat. Sodium chloride comes from the salt we eat during meals.


Electrolytes drinks contain potassium, magnesium and sodium. Natalie Allen, associate professor of nutrition and dietetics at Missouri State University in the United States, said electrolytes are essential for many body functions. Helps maintain body fluid levels. Regulates blood pressure by helping heart and nerve function. Magnesium helps with everything from muscle and nerve function to improving bone health.

Chloride aids in fluid balance and digestion. Potassium helps regulate your heart rate, lower blood pressure, and regulate kidney function. Calcium, sodium and potassium are also needed for normal muscle contraction. A lack of electrolytes can quickly cause your body to face a number of serious problems.
